Biography
Chris Haffey was on rollerskates by the time he was 2 years old. At 11, while he was living in Atlanta, he was introduced to "aggressive skating" by some of his ice hockey friends, then moved back to California where he had already been living from ages 4 to 7.
Back in California, mecca of the aggressive skating world, Chris became serious about his passion and started filming with legendary Brian Bell (who produced his very first section), and through him met Kato (Remz) who is now his good friend and skate sponsor.
Chris skated mostly street then, but in 2004 he won the ASA finals and realized that skating park and winning contests could also become a lucrative business, and so after focusing on skateparks for a little while he went on to win most major contests all over the world, dominating the competition circuits for years like nobody before him ever did. Although 08 and 09 have not been his best competition years, it is still rare to find him outside the top 3..
Besides his amazing skatepark skills, perharps what made Chris Haffey one of the top riders of all times (nicknamed 'Superman' by his peers) is the fact that during all these years he also somehow managed to stay one of the most respected street skater on the planet, regulary putting out monumental street skating video parts that would become classics.
He has won video section of the year (as well as skater of the year) 3 out of the last four years (2005, 2007, 2008) and with his two brand new sections (4x4 and Vibralux videos) he is almost certain to become, once again, nominee for the 2009 industry awards..
